Galactic Racer Devs Explain the DLC Silence. Sebulba Is Not Amused
Now this is podracing. Now this is waiting for podracing news.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer has been out for about a month, and fans are starting to ask the obvious question. Where's the new stuff? The game's publisher has now explained why it's been so quiet, and the short answer is that it doesn't want to promise anything it can't deliver (Bespin Bulletin).
Galactic Racer launched on October 6 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It's the debut game from developer Fuse Games, and it's published by Secret Mode, whose team helps run the game's official Discord (Steam).
Why has Galactic Racer been so quiet?
The game received several hotfixes and a quality-of-life update shortly after launch, but players haven't heard much about future plans since then. When fans asked about it on the official Discord, an admin from Secret Mode said the team is "logging feedback" from players, even if it can't reply to every message (Bespin Bulletin).
The team also said it will only announce feedback being implemented or changes to the game once they're "100% confirmed." The goal, according to the admin, is to avoid overpromising and make sure any changes are locked in first.
Is Star Wars Galactic Racer getting DLC?
Nothing is official yet. Before launch, the game's creative director said, "We'll probably do some sort of DLC," which is why fans are watching so closely now (Bespin Bulletin).
Bespin Bulletin also says key rebinding support is definitely coming at some point, since it was already listed in the last update's patch notes. Rebinding lets players change which buttons do what, which is a small fix that matters a lot in a racing game.
How is Galactic Racer selling?
Pretty well, actually. Galactic Racer was the eighth most downloaded PS5 game in October across the US, Canada and Europe, according to PlayStation's monthly charts. That's impressive company, since it was up against big releases like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (Bespin Bulletin).
The game is a runs-based racer where failed tours reset, with tracks on Tatooine, Jakku, Crait and more, and Sebulba even shows up as a mentor (StarWars.com).
My read is that the quiet approach makes sense, even if it's frustrating. Star Wars games have a long history of overpromising, and a small studio is smart to wait until it has something real to show. With sales this solid, new tracks and racers feel like a matter of when. (Please let us race on Hoth. Nobody has asked the Tauntauns, but we're sure they'd love it.)
