Percy Jackson Season 3 Trailer Kicks Off The Titan's Curse on Disney+

Disney+ just dropped the first full trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3, and the war between the gods and the Titans is finally on the way. The new season adapts The Titan's Curse, the third book in Rick Riordan's series, and it premieres November 20 on Disney+ (Deadline).

What happens in the Season 3 trailer?

The trailer opens with Percy (Walker Scobell) and his friends rescuing two new demigods, Nico and Bianca di Angelo, the children of Hades. Levi Chrisopulos plays Nico and Olive Abercrombie plays Bianca, and during that rescue, Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) gets captured by Luke's forces and taken to the Titan Atlas.

That sets up the main quest, since Percy has to save Annabeth and will likely need the help of Thalia (Tamara Smart), the daughter of Zeus, even though getting her on board won't be easy. Zeus (Courtney B. Vance) also drops the most ominous line in the whole trailer, which is "Victory will require sacrifice."

Who's new in Season 3?

The trailer gives us our first look at Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite and Ming-Na Wen as Hera. Jennifer Beals joins as Demeter, Hubert Smielecki plays Apollo, Dafne Keen plays Artemis, and Saara Chaudry plays Zoë Nightshade, the leader of the Hunters of Artemis.

Holt McCallany plays Atlas, David Costabile is the villain Dr. Thorn, and Jesse L. Martin plays Annabeth's dad, Frederick Chase. Returning gods include Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes and Adam Copeland as Ares (Deadline).

Does the trailer show any monsters?

It does, and the biggest one is Talos, the giant bronze robot sitting in the Junkyard of the Gods. Book fans know exactly how that scene goes, and it looks like the show is giving it the big-budget treatment it deserves.

My read is that The Titan's Curse is where the series gets really good. It brings in the Hunters, Nico and the first real taste of the Titan war, the stakes go way up, and if the trailer is any sign, the show knows exactly how important this season is. (Atlas holding up the sky is about to be the most relatable job on TV.)

If you want to catch up on the books before November 20, the box set is the easy way to do it.
