Ahsoka Season 2 Cast Says the Show Left the Volume and Chopper Is a Diva
Chopper has demands.
Ahsoka Season 2 is still a couple of months out, but the cast is already teasing what's different this time. At an L.A. Comic Con panel, Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine) and Eman Esfandi (Ezra) said the new season shot a lot more outdoors, gets "pretty intense" and has plenty of Thrawn and Chopper (Star Wars News Net).

Why did Ahsoka Season 2 shoot outside?
Season 1 was filmed almost entirely on the Volume, the giant LED stage Lucasfilm uses to create entire planets indoors, and Dawson called that setup "remarkable" while explaining that shooting outside this time felt very different.
"To be outside was really sometimes very brutal, when we were melting because it was super hot or it was freezing cold, or rainy and slippery," she said. She still loved the experience, though. "It was nice to feel like we graduated into that."
Bordizzo agreed. "There's an energy to being outside, like really being outside, not pretending to be outside," she said.
Where is Ahsoka's story going?
The cast couldn't share story details, but Dawson gave a small tease, explaining that Ahsoka healed a lot of her past in Season 1 without that meaning the new season will be easy for her. "It gets pretty hectic. It gets pretty intense," she said.
Bordizzo said fans will be "really proud" of Sabine's journey, and that some scenes were so dramatic the cast would say "damn this is a crazy scene!" between takes.
Is Chopper really a diva on set?
According to Esfandi, absolutely, and he said fans will get "a lot more time with a very specific war criminal," which is clearly Thrawn, and a lot more Chopper too.
"If you've ever heard of what a diva is on a movie set, Chopper defines it in a new way," Esfandi joked. He added that "Huyang's not really a diva," which feels like a fair ranking of Star Wars droids.
My read is that the outdoor sets are the most exciting news here. The Volume looks great, but real locations gave Andor and Rogue One a lot of their texture, so an Ahsoka season with more real wind and dirt should feel bigger and more lived in. (Chopper, meanwhile, will want his own trailer.)
Ahsoka Season 2 premieres January 20, 2027, on Disney+. If you want to catch up on Ezra and Sabine first, Rebels is the perfect homework.
