Dune: Part Three's Popcorn Bucket Has Two Sandworms Now, Which Is a Lot
Twice the worm, twice the jokes.
The Dune popcorn bucket is back, and this time there are two sandworms. AMC, Regal and Cinemark all revealed their Dune: Part Three collectibles on October 29, and the headliner is an AMC bucket topped with two sandworm mouths (Attractions Magazine). (Somewhere, the internet is already writing jokes.)
The original sandworm bucket for Dune: Part Two put a gaping sandworm maw on top of your popcorn. It went viral fast, and nearly every blockbuster since has tried to top it (ScreenCrush). Now Dune is back to defend its title.
What is AMC selling?
AMC has a whole lineup of AMC Theatres exclusives, and they go on sale December 17 (Attractions Magazine). The star is the Double Sandworm popcorn bucket, which has two sandworms on the lid instead of one (ScreenCrush). There's also a Sandworm Thumper collectible with its own working thumper, plus a tall sculpted cup with a metallic finish (JoBlo). AMC's reveal video says "It's really thumping" (which is either a feature or a warning).
Which buckets are Regal and Cinemark selling?
Regal went with a Spacing Guild Navigator popcorn bucket. It's a tall bronze piece with a side door that opens up for your popcorn (Attractions Magazine). Regal's official reveal says it comes with a large popcorn. The full Regal lineup also has a Sands of Arrakis cup, a throw blanket and a sandworm plush. It lands in December, and the exact date and price are still to come.
Cinemark has the Copper Sandworm popcorn bucket. Its official image says it comes with a free same-day refill, which is a nice perk. It's "coming soon," and there's no sale date yet (Attractions Magazine).
When does Dune: Part Three come out?
Dune: Part Three opens in theaters and IMAX on December 18, the same day as Avengers: Doomsday (ScreenCrush). Denis Villeneuve's final chapter jumps ahead almost two decades, with Paul ruling as Emperor and getting pulled into a conspiracy involving Chani (JoBlo).
None of the chains have shared prices yet. AMC's exclusives will likely sell fast once they're out. My read is that the double sandworm is the one people will fight over. The Guild Navigator is the sneaky best design, though, since it actually looks like something from the movie. Whichever one you want, get to the theater early (and maybe don't eat straight out of the worm).
