Frozen 3 Will Open With Anna and Kristoff's Wedding, Disney Confirms

Wedding bells are ringing in Arendelle. Disney Animation chief Jared Bush told Collider that Frozen 3 opens with Anna and Kristoff's wedding, picking up not long after Kristoff finally proposed at the end of Frozen 2 (Collider).

"This movie starts with their wedding," Bush said in the interview at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. He added that only a short amount of time has passed since the last movie, and the film will reveal exactly how long.

How many new songs does Frozen 3 have?

Songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the duo behind "Let It Go," have written about five songs so far, and Bush says one of them plays around the wedding. He called it "spectacular," but he wouldn't confirm whether it's a love song written especially for the couple.

They're also working on what he described as one of the most emotional songs in the movie, which is a big claim for a series that already gave us "Show Yourself."

Who is the villain in Frozen 3?

Disney showed off a new villain at D23 in August, a witch dressed in black who will challenge Anna and Elsa. Bush teased that she "may be more powerful than Elsa," which is a scary thought, since Elsa once froze an entire kingdom by accident.

The voice actor hasn't been announced yet, but Bush said the team has already recorded her multiple times and told fans to "stay tuned."

When does Frozen 3 come out?

Frozen 3 hits theaters on November 24, 2027. Jennifer Lee is back to write and direct alongside Trent Correy, and Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad all return. Lee is also writing Frozen 4, though Bush said the team didn't rush that story so Frozen 3 could stand on its own.

My read is that starting with a wedding is a smart move. It gives Kristoff the big moment he has been waiting two movies for, and it puts the whole cast in one place before the new villain shows up. If the wedding song lands as well as "Lost in the Woods," this one could be the funniest Frozen yet. (Sven better be the best man.)
