Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Is on Netflix Now, With Clancy Brown in the Cast

Night City is back on Netflix. All 10 episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 dropped on October 20. Studio Trigger made it alongside CD Projekt Red once again (CD Projekt Red). This time Kai Ikarashi directs, with Bartosz Sztybor as showrunner and story writer.

It's a standalone story with a brand-new crew. The leads are Roman, voiced in English by Valeria Rodriguez, along with Talia (Kimoy Lee), Weak Kingsley (Clancy Brown) and D (Nazeeh Tarsha), according to Gizmodo. The opening theme is "10:15 Saturday Night" by the Cure. That's an extremely specific choice for a show about chrome-heavy mercenaries.

The early reviews lean positive, with a few loud dissenters. IGN gave it a 9 out of 10. What's on Netflix gave it 5 out of 5, calling it scrappier and messier than the first season in a way that feels human. Ready Steady Cut took the opposite view with a 2 out of 5, saying the show looks great and still falls flat. At the time of writing, it sits at 80% on Rotten Tomatoes from five reviews, with a 63% audience score.

Is there a new Cyberpunk 2077 update?

Yes, and it's free. The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5) arrives October 22 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the Switch 2 version following shortly after (CD Projekt Red). The headliner is "Clampdown," a new side quest that follows the last job of Weak Kingsley's crew before the show. It also adds a dual-wielding perk for pistols and revolvers, a radio station full of Edgerunners music, new outfits and mod support on consoles (GamesRadar).

The first Edgerunners in 2022 is widely credited with pulling many lapsed players back into Cyberpunk 2077, which puts a strange kind of pressure on this sequel. My read is that a standalone story was the smart move, since a forced follow-up to David's ending would have been a difficult sell. Every fan will spend this week arguing over whether the new crew hits as hard. The gap between critics and the audience score suggests the answer depends heavily on what you loved about the original.
