Warner Bros. and Legendary opened general ticket sales for Dune: Part Three on October 20, two months ahead of its December 18 release in North America (Vital Thrills). The international rollout starts December 16. Seats are on sale in standard, IMAX, IMAX 70mm, Dolby Cinema and 4DX. The earliest "Dune Insider" screenings start December 14 in IMAX 70mm before expanding to other IMAX screens the next day (Comic Basics).

The studio marked the occasion with a new teaser and a batch of posters. It also released the first single from the soundtrack, "Desert Chant," credited to Hans Zimmer and Timothée Chalamet. According to ComicBookMovie, the teaser centers on Paul and Chani turning into enemies. New cast members include Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Ida Brooke as Paul and Chani's twins, Leto II and Ghanima. That's a big tell for anyone who has read Dune Messiah.

If you want the premium version, move fast. Only about 40 theaters worldwide are showing the film in IMAX 70mm, and just three of them are in the UK, per LADbible. Those three are the BFI IMAX, the Science Museum and Vue Printworks in Manchester. The first batch of IMAX 70mm tickets went on sale in April at 19 locations and sold out in just under three hours, according to GamesRadar as cited by Comic Basics.

Dune: Part Three also shares its December 18 opening with Marvel's Avengers: Doomsday (Marvel.com). We're calling it Dunesday, in the proud tradition of Barbenheimer (your wallet has been warned).

My read is that Dune earns the IMAX slot and Doomsday earns the opening-night crowd, since a Marvel team-up plays best in a packed, loud theater. There's a fact behind the IMAX half of that, since Dune holds the exclusive IMAX window in December while Doomsday only gets IMAX in select international markets (Bleeding Cool). Dune: Part Three closes out Denis Villeneuve's trilogy, and with premium seats this limited, the bigger risk is waiting too long and getting stuck in the front row. Either way, December 18 is going to be a VERY long day for anyone trying to do both.

More movie news is right here.
