Yip yip, critics.

Avatar: Seven Havens is halfway through its first season. So far it's performing about as well as any Avatar fan could hope. The series comes from Avatar creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. At the time of writing, it sits at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes from 21 reviews, with the audience Popcornmeter at 81%.

The show follows Pavi, a young Earthbender who turns out to be the next Avatar. In her era, the Avatar is seen as humanity's destroyer. Pavi is hunted by enemies from both the human and spirit worlds, and she teams up with her long-lost twin sister Nisha, per Paramount+. Saheli Khan voices Pavi and Aishu Devan voices Nisha. Akshay Khanna, Major Curda and Dee Bradley Baker are also in the cast (of course Dee Bradley Baker is in it, and we're grateful).

When do new episodes of Avatar: Seven Havens come out?

Book 1 runs 13 episodes. Episodes 1 to 3 arrived October 9 and episodes 4 to 6 landed October 16. The remainder of the season arrives on Paramount+ in two more drops.

  • Episodes 7 to 9 on October 23
  • Episodes 10 to 13 on October 30

Episodes 7 to 9 are titled "What Lies Beneath," "The Envoys, Part 1" and "The Envoys, Part 2," and they hit Paramount+ at 3 a.m. ET on Friday (Comic Basics).

The most recent trio of episodes, "The Faceless," "The One Left Behind" and "Night of the Afflicted," scored a 9.5 out of 10 from But Why Tho.

The show has already been renewed twice over. At New York Comic Con on October 9, Paramount+ renewed it for Books 3 and 4, both continuing Pavi and Nisha's story (TVLine). Book 2 was already set at 13 episodes. That means at least three more Books are coming after this one. Janet Varney, the voice of Korra, moderated the panel, which also brought news of Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos with Bryan Konietzko as showrunner. The animated series follows a 14-year-old Kuruk evading his teacher, pirates and chaotic spirits (Paramount+). Seven Havens is also getting companion episodes of Avatar: Braving the Elements, the official podcast co-hosted by Varney and Dante Basco (TheWrap).

Kuruk has always been one of the most intriguing Avatars in the lore, mostly because fans have only glimpsed fragments of his story. Add a double renewal for Seven Havens and a perfect critics' score, and my read is that the franchise is in its healthiest spot since Korra wrapped up.
